Sampson Thoroughbred Farm is located near Hector, Minnesota, approximately 75 miles west of Minneapolis. Over 90 thoroughbred horses are kept at this facility for breeding, foaling and racing, mainly in Minnesota.
Our broodmares are generally stakes winners who have proven their worthiness on the track prior to breeding. We breed our mares to a variety of studs standing both in Minnesota and in nearby states, as well as Kentucky. We support the Minnesota racing industry, and both race our home bred
horses and sell yearlings through a variety of auctions. We take pride in our developed breeding program and have experienced a number of successes from that program.
We race our horses primarily at Canterbury Park from mid-May through late August (see linked Web Site page). We do venture to several other racetracks, including Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, as well as others.
The training season begins in January when we send our horses with our favorite trainers, mainly to Arkansas and Oklahoma. Our horses have won many races including significant stakes, and we have confidence that we will win many more.
Sampson Farms strives for perfection in the training and development of our horses. Each individual horse is meticulously trained to attain its fullest potential by our chosen trainer.
